Aliso Viejo Piano Lessons Kids & Teens Actually Enjoy

For most kids or teens, the idea of piano lessons is more appealing that what actually plays out. You spend weeks learning scales and simple tunes like “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” and it doesn’t take long for kids to lose interest. At Los Rios Rock School, we offer quality Aliso Viejo piano lessons that keep kids inspired and engaged, and here’s how we do it.

The Lessons
Your monthly tuition includes a full, one-hour lesson with a professional piano instructor. Many schools or private piano instructors provide only a 30-minute lesson or perhaps a 45-minute weekly lesson, but we believe that a full hour of instruction is the most beneficial length for our students.

Our teaching method is performance-based and we begin by teaching kids how to play songs they love right away. Within just a few lessons, they will be able to play a song from one of their favorite artists, rather than working on dull little nursery tunes. We can teach piano using music from virtually any artist or genre, including rock, pop, country, blues, classical, jazz and much more.

In addition, if your child or teen wants more than just Aliso Viejo piano lessons, we can accommodate that as well. Students can split their lessons into two parts and spend half of their instruction on vocal lessons or learning another instrument. Aside from piano and keyboards, we can teach just about any instrument, including all types of guitar, ukulele, drums, saxophone, clarinet and more. We also often spend a portion of the lesson working on a song and music theory, and then head over to one of our performance rooms for a quick jam session where the instructor might accompany a piano student on guitar, sax or drums.

But that’s not all . . .

The Live Performances
Of course, learning how to play the piano can be fun by itself, but showing off your skills can be even more exciting. At Los Rios Rock School, students demonstrate their skills during live rock shows at some of Southern California’s top venues, including the House of Blues, the Fonda Theater, Stillwater, the Coach House and more.

As part of your monthly tuition, your child or teen will be included in our Live Program. For this program, we organize students based upon ability and they meet weekly to practice set lists for upcoming shows. Shows are held about six to 12 times per year. Some shows feature a myriad of tunes from many musical genres, while other shows include a specific theme. For instance, our advanced music students can audition for our Classic Album Series concerts, where an entire classic album is performed, such as The Beatles’ Abbey Road or Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours.

Special Classes & Workshops
Beyond the lessons and Live Program, we have many other special programs here at Los Rios Rock School. We offer songwriting and production classes and workshops and our facility includes two professional recording studios. All of our instructors are working musicians in bands that have produced albums and we can provide students with performance tips, songwriting tips and teach them how to record and produce their own original music.

As an accredited music school, we also offer an AP Music Theory class. This course is led by an instructor with a Ph.D. in Music Composition, and will prepare our advanced music students for the rigors of the AP Music Theory exam.

If this sounds like the type of Aliso Viejo piano lessons that you want, give us a call today and we will set up a tour of our facilities. We are located just minutes from Aliso Viejo in downtown San Juan Capistrano at 32124 Paseo Adelanto.
