3 Reasons Why Students Prefer Performance-Based Dana Point Vocal Lessons

If your teen or child loves to sing, they probably secretly (or perhaps not-so-secretly) long to showcase their vocal skills on stage. At Los Rios Rock School, our vocal students get to do exactly that, perform live at top local venues. If you are considering Dana Point vocal lessons, here are three reasons to consider our performance-based approach.

1. Our Performance-Based Lessons Are More Fun

If you think back to your own musical career, you might remember the boredom of playing songs like Hot Cross Buns or singing out-of-date music that you disliked during choir concerts. At Los Rios Rock School, students learn all the basic scales and skills, but we also teach them using music they really love. Whether your vocalist loves Nirvana or Taylor Swift or something else entirely, we can teach using any genre of music that is preferred.

2. Performance-Based Lessons Inspire Students

One of the challenges of teaching Dana Point Music Lessons is getting students to practice. However, when students practice using their favorite tunes, this rehearsal time is far more enjoyable. In addition, all of our students will be performing live on stage and at cool venues such as the House of Blues. Students definitely are more motivated to practice and learn when they are working toward an exciting goal. Our live shows also include a mix of songs and styles, which inspires students to learn more about different types of music in general.

3. Our Dana Point Vocal Lessons Boost Confidence

What could be a bigger confidence booster than performing live on stage? Even if your child is a bit on the shy side, we’ll get them up on stage and having a blast in no time at all. While the students do work hard preparing for live performances, our shows are all about having fun and enjoying music.

How It Works

Our monthly tuition includes both a weekly, hour-long private vocal lesson as well as participation in our live performance program. During your weekly lesson, one of our expert vocal instructors will help you work on tone, range and even performance skills. Our instructors also are qualified to teach a variety of instruments, so if you child would like to spend half their lesson on vocal training and half on piano, drums or saxophone, we can accommodate that. We can teach virtually any instrument, including electric, bass and acoustic guitar, drums, piano, flute, clarinet and so on.

Additionally, we divide the kids up by experience and ability into performance groups. The kids create their own set lists for upcoming shows, practice during weekly jam sessions and then it all leads up to the big show. These shows are held about six to 12 times per year and students will perform live at venues such as Stillwater, the House of Blues, the Coach House and at The Lobby, Los Rios Rock School’s private stage. Currently, we have about 10 different live groups.

Some of our shows feature songs from many different artists, including original compositions written by our students, and some shows include a theme. For instance, our advanced students are welcome to audition for our Classic Album Series, where students perform an entire class album from start to finish. The Beatles “Abbey Road,” Queen’s “A Day At The Races,” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” are among the albums we’ve covered during this series.

In addition to what is included in the monthly tuition, we have several other offerings. We have songwriting and production classes where students learn how to create and produce their own original music. Our facility includes two state-of-the-art, professional production studios, and the students can learn how to use every piece of equipment we have on site, including our huge collection of professional new and vintage gear.

We also offer an AP Music Theory class, which is taught by an instructor with a doctorate in Music Composition. During this class, our most advanced students will prepare to take the challenging AP Music Theory exam. We are a fully accredited supplementary education program.

Summer camps and other special events also are among our offerings. If you need Dana Point vocal lessons, we offer lessons and a whole lot more. We are located right next door to Dana Point in downtown San Juan Capistrano at 32124 Paseo Adelanto.
