Students gain knowledge of music theory which they can apply to other instruments, such as the guitar. The ukulele is lightweight and can be taken almost anywhere, a perfect portable instrument. Playing musical instruments also has been shown to reduce stress and music makes people happy.

At Los Rios Rock School, we offer Laguna Niguel ukulele lessons for children and teens, but these aren’t the dull, uninspired lessons that you might remember from your own childhood musical experiences. In fact, we offer ukulele lessons that truly rock.

Performance-Based Lessons
We find that students are more enthusiastic about lessons and practice more when they can play music they truly love. No one really enjoys playing “Hot Cross Buns” or “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” but playing a favorite song from their favorite artist captivates a student’s attention.

Our song-based and performance-based lessons allow students to quickly progress and within just a lesson or two, they can play a favorite song, even if they have no previous musical experience. Our instructors can teach using any genre of music that your child or teen enjoys, including pop, rock, country, blues, R&B, folk, reggae, and, for those ukulele lessons, some sweet Hawaiian tunes.

Your monthly fees include weekly private Laguna Niguel ukulele lessons and these lessons aren’t just 30 minutes or even 45. We believe that a full hour of weekly one-on-one instruction is the best way to ensure student success. Additionally, with our interactive Teacher Zone software, students can track their practice times, communicate with instructors and utilize online lessons.

During the weekly lessons, students have the option of concentrating on ukulele or splitting their lessons into two sections. They can spend half on ukulele lessons and spend the rest of the time enjoying vocal instruction or perhaps learning piano, saxophone, drums, acoustic guitar or another instrument.

Live Performances
Of course, once you’ve attained some mad ukulele skills, you need an opportunity to show them off, and that’s where our Live Program comes in. This program, which is included in your monthly tuition, provides students with multiple opportunities to perform and not just at little recitals. We host several live rock shows throughout the year at some of Southern California’s top venues, including the Coach House, the House of Blues, the Fonda Theatre and more.

Students are organized into ability-based groups and they meet weekly for jam sessions. During these sessions, they learn how to play as a cohesive band as well as designing set lists for upcoming shows. We let the students lead the way, designing shows that include songs and genres that inspire them. Our Live Program also provides an excellent opportunity for students to forge new and long-lasting friendships, and the live performances are a great way to build confidence.

But Wait, There’s More . . .
Beyond the Live Program and our weekly Laguna Niguel ukulele lessons, we offer a few special extras. For budding songwriters and producers (or both), our Artists Program is designed to provide these students with the skills that need to excel at a professional level.

Students will learn how to create their own original compositions, as well as working on performance skills. Additionally, they can learn to produce their own original music using one of our two state-of-the-art production studios. Our on-site recording studios are some of the best in the business. In fact, one was designed by a Grammy Award-winning producer.

Our facility is stocked with top-of-the-line new and vintage gear, and the kids can use it all. They can learn to play and record music using the same instruments and production equipment their favorite artists and producers use. We truly offer a one-of-a-kind musical experience at Los Rios Rock School.
