There are so many reasons to love the ukulele. It’s small and portable, it’s relatively easy to learn and the iconic sound is soothing, relaxing and joyful. If you have a child or teen that wants to learn an instrument and loves the ukulele, Los Rios Rock School offers quality San Clemente ukulele lessons. Here’s a quick overview of our program.

Weekly Lessons
We teach using a performance-based technique that allows students to progress rapidly. In fact, after just one or two lessons, your child or teen will be able to play a song they love, not just a couple of chords. While we do teach music theory, our goal is to get kids up and playing as soon as possible. After all, isn’t practicing a lot more exciting when you are playing songs you really enjoy?

The monthly tuition includes weekly, 60-minute San Clemente ukulele lessons, but the students are welcome to split their lesson and spend half of the time working on ukulele skills and the rest of the time learning another instrument or enjoying vocal instruction. We can teach virtually any instrument, although our focus is on acoustic guitar, ukulele, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano & keyboards, drums and vocals.

Hitting The Stage
When we talk about performance-based lessons, we definitely emphasize the performance aspect, and we get kids up on stage as soon as possible. Your monthly tuition includes the weekly private lesson as well as participation in our Live Program. For this unique program, we divide students into groups and get them playing together during weekly jam sessions.

During these sessions, we focus on learning how to play instruments as part of a band, as well as designing and practicing set lists for upcoming shows. We hold concerts throughout the year at top venues such as Stillwater, the Coach House, the House of Blues and the Fonda Theatre. Students plan out the set lists and provide all of the vocals and instrumentation during the shows. Our goal is to provide students with more than San Clemente ukulele lessons; we want to provide a truly authentic rock band experience.

A variety of concerts are held throughout the year, some include a wide range of genres and artists, while some include a special theme. For example, every year, Los Rios Rock School students create original Christmas and Halloween shows. Our advanced students also can audition for our Classic Album Series, where an entire classic album is performed from beginning to end. In the past, we’ve covered renowned albums by The Beatles, Queen, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin and more.

Extra Classes
The fun doesn’t just stop with the live concerts or the ukulele lessons for San Clemente kids and teens. If you have a budding songwriter or producer on your hands, they also can enroll in our songwriting and production classes and workshops. Our facility includes two professional recording studios where students can produce their own original music.

As an accredited music school, we also are pleased to offer an AP Music Theory class, led by an instructor with a doctoral degree in Music Composition. This advanced class will prepare students for the challenging AP Music Theory exam.

Every summer, we offer an assortment of summer rock camps. We typically offer several weekly camps for beginning and intermediate musicians as well as one special camp for advanced musicians. You don’t have to be a Los Rios Rock School student in order to participate, and this can be a fun way to get started with our music school.

If this sounds like the type of San Clemente ukulele lessons and the type of musical experience your child or teen would enjoy, give us a call at any time. We will set up a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities so you can learn more about our program. We are located just minutes from San Clemente in downtown San Juan Capistrano.
