Beat The Summertime Blues At Our San Juan Capistrano Music Camp
While the first few days of summer vacation are always are exciting, it doesn’t take long until kids and teens become bored. Rather than couch-surfing throughout the summer, why not sign up for one of our 2017 Summer Rock Camps? Whether your child or teen is a beginning musician, an advanced musician or somewhere in between, we can provide a great San Juan Capistrano music camp experience at Los Rios Rock School.
Our half-day camps are packed with activity and each camp culminates with a live concert on our professional stage, The Lobby. We have two basic camp categories. One camp includes beginning and intermediate-level campers and the other we reserve for our advanced musicians, those with a bit more instrumental or vocal music experience. We welcome non-students as well as current Los Rios Rock School students to participate in either of these camps.
On day one, the students will select songs to practice for our live performance on the last day of music camp. Typically, these songs are based on the interests and ability levels of the campers, and we get started learning the parts right away. These include vocal parts as well as parts for instruments such as piano & keyboards, all types of guitar, drums and even parts for saxophone, flute, trumpet, clarinet and more.
In addition to practicing for the concert, we also offer engaging seminars on various musical topics that relate to the interest of each camper group as well as their general playing level. This might include a performance workshop or perhaps songwriting workshops. We truly let the kids set the tone for the week, selecting the topics that interest them. In fact, our advanced campers often choose to write their own songs and perform these tunes during the final concert rather than covering another’s artist’s songs.
Each camp is led by 2-3 of our professional Los Rios Rock School instructors as well as including 2-4 junior instructors. These junior instructors typically include our most advanced and experienced students to provide the best possible experience for our campers.
Beginner & Intermediate music camps will be held during the following weeks:
June 26-June 30; July 10-July 14; July 24-July 28; and July 31-August 4. Our Advanced Camp will be held the week of July 17 to July 21. All camps run from 9:30 a.m. until noon, and, again, there will be a live performance on the final day of camp. The cost for each San Juan Capistrano music camp is $299 for current Los Rios Rock School students, and $399 for non-students. Camp tuition will be due two weeks in advance of your camp start date.
In addition to our San Juan Capistrano music camp, the summer months are a great time to consider starting music lessons at Los Rios Rock School. We offer lessons in all types of guitar, drums, piano & keyboards, flute, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet and much more, as well as voice lessons and songwriting, production & music theory classes.
