A Rock School For Dana Point Teens, Kids
Learning to play an instrument should be an exciting endeavor, but too often, students dislike the music they are asked to play and don’t really enjoy practicing. At Los Rios Rock School, our goal is to transform that image of music lessons and get kids and teens excited about music. Our approach to teaching is unique, as we believe a song-based and performance-based approach will best motivate students to practice and progress. This means we begin by teaching Dana Point rock school students to play a few of their favorite songs and have them perform those songs at live rock shows as soon as possible.
Your monthly tuition includes a full, one-hour lesson with an experienced instructor. Each of our instructors is a professional musician in a working band that has produced albums. They can teach any Dana Point rock school student to play virtually any instrument using music that they truly love, and this includes rock, country, jazz, pop, bluegrass, reggae, rockabilly, blues and more.
During your weekly lesson, you can learn any type of guitar, ukulele, keyboards, piano, drums, saxophone, clarinet or virtually any other instrument. In addition, we offer vocal instruction for our students that love to sing. Students also can split a lesson into two parts and spend half of the lesson working on percussion and the other half working on guitar, or perhaps half a lesson on piano and half of their time with vocal instruction.
This is just part of what the tuition includes for students at our rock school. Dana Point teens and kids also are organized into bands, based upon ability, practice song sets during weekly jam sessions and perform at live local venues at least three times per year. All of this is included in your monthly tuition.
Our students have performed live at local venues such as the House of Blues, Stillwater and the Coach House. We also host special performances at our state-of-the-art facility. Our facility is loaded with the finest, top-of-the-line professional music gear and the kids can use it all.
For our advanced students, we also have a few extra offerings. Our weekly Song Summit workshops allow Dana Point Rock School students a chance to learn about songwriting techniques, music production and basic music theory. Our AP Music Theory class, taught by an instructor with a Ph.D. in Music Composition, will prepare our upper-level musicians for the rigorous AP Music Theory exam.
In addition to learning how to play an instrument, we also have created a fun, welcoming environment at Los Rios Rock School. Students form strong friendships while at the rock school and this deepens their overall musical experience.
