“Sloop John B” Video Breaks 1 Million Views – A Milestone for Los Rios Rock School Students
We’re thrilled to announce that the Los Rios Rock School YouTube video of our students performing “Sloop John B” has officially surpassed 1,000,000 views!
This unforgettable video was part of a year-long recording project honoring the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds album, one of the most influential records in rock history. Our students didn’t just cover a few tracks—they recorded the entire album, start to finish, under the guidance of Grammy-winning producer and Los Rios Rock School Director Phil Allen, along with esteemed musician and instructor Clint Haycraft.
“Recording Pet Sounds gave our students a deep understanding of harmony, arrangement, and the beauty of layered composition,” said Allen. “It was one of the most musically rewarding experiences we’ve offered to date.”
Students from San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Ladera Ranch, and surrounding areas came together to create something truly timeless. These musicians, all enrolled in our year-round music lessons and performance academy, were selected for this project based on their dedication, creativity, and collaborative spirit.
From learning the intricate arrangements of Brian Wilson’s visionary production to performing them live and in-studio, the students not only grew musically—they became part of something bigger. The video’s success is a reflection of their hard work and passion, and we couldn’t be more proud.
