An Option For Laguna Beach Rock School Students
When kids think about what they want to experience from music lessons, spending an hour learning how to play “Mary Had A Little Lamb” on the recorder probably isn’t at the top of their wish list. They want to learn to play music they love and songs they love and they want to have fun doing it. That’s what Los Rios Rock School is all about.
At our facility, Laguna Beach rock school students can pick up an instrument and be playing a song they love in just a few short lessons. Our performance-based and song-based approach to music offers an exciting alternative to the typical music lesson experience. But at Los Rios Rock School, we also offer quite a bit more.
Weekly Private Lessons
As part of the tuition, each Laguna Beach rock school student will enjoy a weekly, one-hour private lesson. Our top instructors can teach just about any instrument, as well as providing vocal instruction. Students at our rock school can learn how to play all types of guitars as well as other stringed instruments, drums, piano or keyboards, brass instruments and woodwinds.
Our instructors also allow the student to learn using any genre of music they love. This includes classic rock, folk, pop, country, alternative, bluegrass, jazz and much more. They can even mix it up and spend half of their 60-minute lesson on one instrument and the other half learning something else. For example, a Laguna Beach rock school student might choose to spend 30 minutes on piano and then spend the remainder of their lesson on drum practice and instruction.
Live Performances At Top Venues
In addition to your private lesson, we group the kids and teens into student bands, have them select set lists of their favorite songs and rehearse these numbers during weekly practice jam sessions. These bands then perform several live shows during the year at the best local venues, including Stillwater in Dana Point, the House of Blues in Anaheim and the famed Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. No rock school in Laguna Beach offers private lessons, practice sessions and live performances as part of their monthly fees.
Beyond The Lessons & Performances
Our specialty classes are another reason why we are the most unique option for a Laguna Beach rock school. In addition to the weekly lessons and live performances, we also offer classes in songwriting and music production. During the summer, we also offer camps where students enjoy jam sessions, songwriting and production workshops and much more. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about music as well as meeting new friends with similar interests.
For our most advanced students, there is also the option of signing up for our weekly AP Music Theory class, which is led by an instructor with a Ph.D. in music composition and will prepare students for the rigorous AP Music Theory examination.
