While the idea of learning how to play an instrument is exciting for budding musicians, the reality of lessons often tends more toward drudgery than fun. But it doesn’t have to be that way, and Los Rios Rock School offers quality San Juan Capistrano piano lessons that your kids and teens will look forward to each and every week.
At Los Rios Rock School, we firmly believe that learning should be fun. Students should be excited to come to lessons, and inspired to practice and grow as artists. Therefore, we take a performance-based approach when teaching students, accelerating their progress and providing them with ample opportunities to showcase their skills. Here’s a quick look at our program:
How It Works
Your monthly tuition includes a private, 60-minute lesson each week with one of our professional instructors. During lessons, we teach students to play using songs from their favorite artists and genres. No one drudges along playing scales or “Hot Cross Buns” for weeks at a time, we get them started using music they truly love. While practicing is essential, we find that students are far more motivated to practice if they enjoy the music. Additionally, we also allow students to split their lesson and work on two different instruments during their 60-minute period. A student could mix piano and guitar, piano and drums, piano and vocal instruction or just about any other instrument that interests them.
Of course, San Juan Capistrano piano lessons are not all that is included in your monthly tuition. The monthly fee also includes participation in our unique Live Program, where we get kids up on stage performing at top rock venues such as the Coach House, Stillwater, the House of Blues, the Fonda Theater and more.
Students are divided into groups based upon ability. The groups meet during weekly jam sessions, where they develop set lists for upcoming shows and spend time practicing with their fellow students. Shows are held about six to 12 times per year. Some feature songs from a variety of artists, while others include a special theme. For our advanced students, they are welcome to audition for our Classic Album concerts, where a class rock album is performed in its entirety by our Los Rios Rock School students. In the past, the concerts have featured albums such as The Beatles’ Abbey Road and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours.
Additional Offerings
If you child is interesting in more than San Juan Capistrano piano lessons, we have plenty of other options for their consideration. For instance, if your child or teen is a budding songwriter, we offer songwriting and production classes and workshops. Our facility includes two professional recording studios where students can record and learn to produce their own original music. Our instructors, one of which is a Grammy-winning engineer, have extensive experience with songwriting and production.
In addition, Los Rios Rock School’s state-of-the-art facility is stocked with the highest quality professional new and vintage gear, and students are welcome to use it all during practice, live shows and for production. Several of our students have formed their own bands and produced albums at our facility.
Additionally, our advanced music students may be interested in taking our AP Music Theory Class. This course, led by an instructor with a Ph.D. in Music Composition, prepares students for the rigorous AP Music Theory exam. We are an accredited music school, so students can take this course for credit if they wish.
