Finding Confidence Through Community: Maddie’s Journey at Los Rios Rock School
When Maddie first walked into Los Rios Rock School five years ago, she was a shy 12-year-old with a passion for music and a fear of the stage. Today, at 17, she’s a confident performer, a skilled vocalist,, and a seasoned collaborator—proof that the right music lessons and environment can transform more than just musical ability.

“I had insane stage fright,” Maddie shared. “Ever since I was little, I found it hard not to get anxious performing—or even want to perform at all. But when I joined Los Rios, still shy, my instructors pushed me to feel comfortable and confident. They made me laugh during performances, and that led to friendships with the other kids in the band.”
At Los Rios Rock School, students like Maddie benefit from more than just vocal lessons or recording lessons—they become part of a performance academy designed to help them grow not just as musicians, but as kind and hardworking people. Through band coaching, live shows at real venues, and a built-in community of peers and mentors, students experience what it’s like to be in the music industry, all while building confidence and lasting friendships.
“Los Rios has helped me build long-lasting friendships through the bands especially,” Maddie said. “Being involved in the bands helped me find my bandmates who I’ve created amazing memories with for years. We’ve collaborated on songs, played shows together, and even opened for Tommy DeCarlo at The Coach House.”
As a student from San Clemente taking music lessons at Los Rios Rock School, Maddie’s story is especially inspiring for families looking for music programs close to home that do more than teach—they nurture. Her experience reflects the heart of what Los Rios Rock School stands for: a safe and empowering space where students can explore their musical identity, build character,, and prepare for the real world in any field or dream they have of who they want to become as adults.
“My favorite memory has been the friendships I made. Being in a band made me more outgoing and high school more fun. I owe that to Los Rios. I’m forever grateful because my stage presence, production skills, social skills, and even management skills have all improved.”For parents seeking a place where their child can take music lessons, vocal lessons, or recording lessons in a supportive and inspiring community, Los Rios Rock School is more than a school—it’s a launchpad.
