1. Our Lessons Are Fun & Engaging
Think back to your music lessons as a child. For many of us, attending these lessons was more of a chore than something to anticipate. At Los Rios Rock School, we challenge the notion that Orange County vocal lessons must be dull and repetitive in order to be effective.
While our Orange County vocal lessons include all the basics, such as practicing scales and learning proper breathing techniques, we teach students using songs and music that inspire them. As they head home to practice, they can do so using songs by their favorite artists, which greatly improves retention and makes practicing something to enjoy rather than a chore.
Within just a few weeks, you will notice the tone and vocal range of your child or teen begin to improve. We have six vocal instructors on staff currently, and these instructors not only can provide vocal lessons for Orange County teens and kids, they also can teach a wide range of instrument.
If you like, we can split your lesson into two, 30-minute sections, spending half of the time on vocal lessons and the other half on instrumental music. For instance, you might spend half of the lesson on vocal instruction and the other half on clarinet, flute or perhaps guitar, drums or piano. Again, we teach these instruments using songs and musical genres that your children enjoy.
2. Tuition Includes Lessons & Much More
With private lessons or other local music schools, your tuition might include a weekly lesson and perhaps one or two recitals each year, but we provide students with many more opportunities to display their new skills. We typically host six to 12 shows per year and these shows are held at some of the best venues in the county, including Stillwater, the House of Blues, the Coach House and our own private stage, The Lobby.
Your monthly fee includes the private lessons as well as participation in our Live Program. For this program, we organize students into groups, typically based upon ability. These groups create set lists for upcoming shows and rehearse once per week leading up to the show. The set lists sometimes include a mix of styles and genres while other shows might feature a special theme. After several weeks of practicing, the groups are ready to perform at our live shows. All of this, the lessons, rehearsals and performances are part of your monthly tuition.
3. We Provide Many Special Extras
In addition to the lessons and Live Program, we have a few cool extras that we’d like to share. If your child not only loves to sing, but also enjoys writing their own music or wishes to learn how, we also offer songwriting and recording courses. During these classes students not only learn how to write songs, our facility also includes two professional recording studios where they can record and produce their music.
As an accredited music school, we also offer an AP Music Theory class, which is led by and instructor with a Ph.D. in Music Composition. This course, designed for our most advanced students, will prepare students for the difficult AP Music Theory exam, which will be taken at the end of each semester.
We also offer exciting summer camps for students of all ages. Our camps include half-day camps for beginning music students, as well as half-day camps for our more advanced students. These camps are filled with songwriting workshops, live performances, games and much more.
