Laguna Niguel Piano Lessons With A Rock School Edge
Too often, students begin music lessons with high expectations but quickly run out of steam after spending weeks learning scales and dull songs. At Los Rios Rock School, we do things a bit differently. We provide engaging Laguna Niguel piano lessons that keep kids and teens interested and excited about practicing and learning. Here’s a quick look at our unique program.
Weekly Lessons
Keeping students excited about Laguna Niguel piano lessons can be tough, but the instructors at Los Rios Rock School are up to the challenge. We teach using a performance-based approach, and get kids playing their favorite songs in just a few lessons. After all, it’s more fun to practice your favorite music than to drone through “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” or simply practice scales.
The monthly tuition includes weekly 60-minute Laguna Niguel piano lessons, not a mere half-hour lesson or even 45 minutes. We spend quality time with each student, working on proper piano technique, music theory, performance skills and much more. Students also are free to split their lesson into two parts and learn an additional instrument. If your child is interested in taking piano lessons as well as learning how to play drums, guitar, ukulele, saxophone, clarinet or something else, we can teach it. We also offer vocal instruction, and students can spend half of their lesson working on their vocal skills if they wish.
Live Performances
Of course, Laguna Niguel piano lessons aren’t nearly as exciting if you don’t have an opportunity to show off your skills. At Los Rios Rock School, students perform at shows throughout the year and these aren’t just basic music recitals, these are true live rock shows at some of Southern California’s top music venues. Our students regularly perform at venues such as the Coach House, the House of Blues, Stillwater and a variety of local and regional festivals and events.
Your monthly tuition also includes participation in our Live Program. Each student is placed in a group, based upon their level of experience, and these groups enjoy weekly jam sessions where we create set lists and practice for upcoming shows. This not only provides students with performance opportunities, it’s a fantastic way for students to make new friends. In fact, many of our students come to sessions or lessons early or stay late just to hang out with their friends and socialize.
Our live shows take place roughly 8-10 times per year. Some shows include a special theme, while other shows feature an assortment of musical styles. Our advanced students can audition for our special Classic Album concert series. For these unique concerts, the students perform a famous classic album from beginning to end. In the past, concerts have featured The Beatles’ Abbey Road, Led Zeppelin II, Queen’s A Day at the Races and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, as well as Van Halen’s debut album.
Additional Classes
Our facility is stocked with top-of-the-line professional new and vintage gear, and the students get to use it all! We also have two professional recording studios, and offer songwriting and production classes for students that want to create their own original music and learn how to produce it.
We also are an accredited music school, and we offer an AP Music Theory class for our most advanced students. During this course, which is led by an instructor with a Ph.D. in Music Composition, students will learn all they need to know (and more) in order to pass the Advanced Placement Music Theory exam.
Additionally, we offer amazing summer camps for students of all ages and levels of experience. We have beginning and intermediate summer rock camps as well as a special camp for our more advanced students. Each camp week ends with a live performance on our private stage, The Lobby.
