If your child or teen would love nothing better than spending their summer days strumming a guitar or singing in front of a live audience, a Mission Viejo music camp is a great option. At Los Rios Rock School, we have summer rock camps for musicians and singers of all ages. Here’s a look at our summer camp programs.
What To Expect
Our half-day camps are packed with fun activities and each camp week culminates with a huge live rock show on our professional stage. Each week begins by organizing campers into groups and working on a set list for the big show. Students select songs they love, and begin practicing right away. Each group will be led by 2 or 3 or our professional instructors as well as a few camp counselors, which are comprised of our most experienced music students.
In addition to practicing for the big show, we provide many fun and inspiring music workshops. During these sessions, Mission Viejo music camp students might work on writing their own original music or perhaps improving their performance techniques. We tend to let the kids dictate the subject matter, as we want to cater to the interests of each unique group of campers.
While campers typically include children and teens from about age 7 and up, we can take school-aged kids and teens of all ages and all levels of experience. Some campers will have several years of musical experience, while others will be first-timers. Some campers will be current students of Los Rios Rock School, while others will be brand new to the rock school scene and everyone has a blast.
Our camps are divided into Beginner & Intermediate camps suitable for kids and teens with no musical experience or a few years of musical experience. We also have an Advanced Camp for those at a higher level of expertise. The schedule for both music camps is similar, we simply crank up the level of difficulty for more advanced campers.
The Fine Print
Our Beginner & Advanced music camps are scheduled for the weeks of June 26-June 30; July 10-July 14; July 24-July 28; and July 31-August 4. Our Advanced Camp will be held during the week of July 17-21. Camps run from Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. until noon, with the big performance held at the end of the camp day on Friday. The cost for each music camp is $299 for current Los Rios Rock School students and $399 for non-students. Music camp tuitions will be due two weeks prior to the camp start date. Our Music School
In addition to providing summer music camps, we are a fully accredited music school. Our team of instructors provides expert vocal instruction as well as instruction for virtually any instrument, including all types of guitar, drums, piano & keyboards, saxophone, clarinet and much more. Tuition includes a weekly, private one-hour lesson as well as participation in our unique Live Program. For this program, students perform at live rock shows at some of the top music venues in the area, including the Coach House, Stillwater, the Fonda Theater and the House of Blues.
