Too often, music lessons are dull and it’s slow getting starting. It might take several lessons before a student even starts learning how to play a simple song such as “Mary Had A Little Lamb” or the ever-popular “Hot Cross Buns.” However, at our rock school for Mission Viejo students, our song-based teaching methods allow students to learn using songs and music they love. We have them playing complete songs quickly, which increases their enthusiasm and truly makes learning how to play an instrument exciting.
Not only will your child quickly be playing their favorite songs, they will have the opportunity to perform these songs at live rock shows throughout Orange County. In addition to your weekly music lessons, your Mission Viejo rock school tuition also includes participation in our live music program. Students rehearse during weekly jam sessions and then perform several times during the year at venues such as the House of Blues, Stillwater and the Coach House.

We also can teach virtually any instrument. We also offer the option of splitting your lesson into two sections. For instance, your child might want to spend 30 minutes working on the clarinet and the remainder of the lesson on vocal instruction. Another option might be to spend half the lesson on guitar and rest on piano; it all depends on what each Mission Viejo rock school student wishes to learn.
When it comes to the rock shows, we allow the Mission Viejo rock school students to brainstorm themes and song ideas for each show. In the past, we’ve had live shows that feature songs from a variety of signers, genres and eras as well as theme shows paying tribute to acts such as The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. In addition, some of our rock shows feature original songs written by our own rock school students.
Not only do these live performances help students gain confidence and build self-esteem, they also create strong friendships with their fellow students. In addition to the weekly lessons, jam sessions and rock shows, we also have a few other unique offerings. We offer songwriting lessons and teach music production. Students can learn how to write, produce and record their own original music at our rock school for Mission Viejo teens and children. We also offer an AP Music Theory class taught by a professional musician with a Ph.D. in Music Composition. This course is an excellent option for our advanced music students who wish to take the AP Music Theory exam.
