Rancho Santa Margarita Piano Lessons For Kids & Teens
Too often, students begin their Rancho Santa Margarita piano lessons with a great deal of excitement, but this quickly deflates as they spend weeks playing redundant nursery songs when they long to play their favorite tunes. At Los Rios Rock School, our piano lessons are bit out of the box, keeping students engage and exciting about practicing their skills.
Our Lessons
Your monthly tuition includes a weekly, private lesson with one of our experienced piano teachers. Unlike many other music schools, your tuition includes a 60-minute lesson each week, and not the typical 30-minute or 45-minute lesson. During these piano lessons for Rancho Santa Margarita kids, we teach using a song-based, performance-based technique that allows them to pick up music theory while playing their favorite songs. Within just a lesson or two, your child or teen will be able to play a song or songs they love, and we find that this method greatly improves the enthusiasm for lessons and practicing.
Our instructors can provide Rancho Santa Margarita piano lessons using any genre of music that your child loves. This includes, but is not limited to, rock, pop, jazz, classical, country, blues and much more. Additionally, our expert instructors can teach just about any instrument your child might want to learn and we allow students to split their lessons, spending half of their time learning piano skills and the rest with another instrument or perhaps with vocal instruction. In addition to piano, our instructors can teach all types of guitars, drums and instruments such as saxophone, clarinet and trumpet. But, of course, there’s more . . .
Our Live Program
The weekly Rancho Santa Margarita piano lessons, however, are just the tip of the iceberg. Part of the monthly tuition also includes participation in our Live Program. For this program, students are organized into groups based upon ability. These groups meet just about every week to plan set lists and rehearse for our live shows. And, our shows are authentic rock shows, held at some of Southern California’s top venues, including the House of Blues, the Coach House, the Fonda Theatre and many more, as well as on our own private stage, The Lobby.
Shows are held six to 12 times per year, and the students perform all the songs, providing all of the vocals and most or all of the instrumentation. Some shows feature a special theme, while others feature an array of music from artists across many decades. Additionally, our advanced students are welcome to audition for our Classic Album Series. For these special concerts, our students perform a classic rock or pop album in its entirety, such as The Beatles’ Abbey Road, Queen’s A Day at the Races, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds or perhaps Michael Jackson’s classic Thriller.
Special Programs & Classes
In addition to the live program and Rancho Santa Margarita piano lessons, we also offer some additional classes and workshops. Many of our students are budding songwriters or producers, so we offer songwriting and production classes. Our facility includes two professional recording studios, one of which was designed by a Grammy-winning music producer.
For our most advanced students, we also offer an AP Music Theory class. We are an accredited music school, and this class is led by an instructor with a Ph.D. in Music Composition, who prepares students for the challenges of the AP Music Theory exam, offered each spring.
We also host several Summer Rock Camps to help fill up those school-free summer days. We offer several camps for beginning and intermediate students as well as a camp for our advanced students. Each camp week ends with a live concert on our private rock school stage.
