Your monthly tuition includes a private, 60-minute lesson each week. We have five vocal instructors on staff that can help your child improve their tone, vocal range and vocal technique and even provide performance instruction. Of course, the best way to improve those performance skills is to get up on stage and actually perform, so that’s a huge part of our curriculum.
The tuition to Los Rios Rock School also includes participation in our unique Live Program. Students in this program perform at top local venues such as Stillwater, the House of Blues and the Coach House as well as our private stage, The Lobby.
The Lessons
At Los Rios Rock School, we believe that students work best if we teach them using music they love. Vocal lessons can be taught using any genre of music that your child or teen enjoys, including rock, pop, country, soul, bluegrass, jazz and more.
We offer more than just Rancho Santa Margarita vocal lessons, our expert instructors can teach virtually any instrument. Students are welcome to split their weekly lesson into two parts, spending half of their time on vocal instruction and the rest of the time on another instrument. We can teach all types of guitar, drums, piano & keyboard, clarinet, saxophone, ukulele and more.
The Rehearsals & Live Shows
In order to prepare for our live shows, we separate the students into groups based upon ability. These groups work with the instructors to plan out set lists for upcoming shows and rehearse together each week. Our facility includes three live rooms where students can rehearse using the best new and vintage gear in the music business. Students also are able to rehearse using the same gear as their favorite artists. This includes top-of-the-line guitars, amps and custom drum sets.
Some of our live shows include a special theme while others feature a myriad of songs and musical genres. Often our shows include original music created by Los Rios Rock School students. Many Los Rios students play three or more instruments and often will have the opportunity to show off a variety of skills during our live shows. For instance, a student might play drums on one song and sing lead vocals on another song.
Songwriting & Recording
In addition to our Live Program and providing vocal lessons for Rancho Santa Margarita teens and children, we have a few extra class offerings. Our state-of-the-art facility includes a full professional analog recording studio as well as a secondary digital studio. We offer songwriting workshops and production workshops that allow students to learn how to write, record and produce their own original music.
AP Music Theory
For our advanced musicians, we also offer an AP Music Theory class. During this class, students will become proficient in music analysis, sight-singing, dictation and part-writing as they learn all they need to know in order to pass the AP Music Theory exam. This course is taught by an instructor with a Ph.D. in Music Composition.
