Unique, Flexible Weekly Lessons
Each week, your child or teen will receive a 60-minute private music lesson with an experienced instructor. Often a music instructor or a rock school in Rancho Santa Margarita provides only 30 minutes of instruction per week, but we believe a full hour is more beneficial for your child’s musical progression.
We also structure our lessons a bit differently at our rock school for Rancho Santa Margarita kids and teens. Rather than the typical approach of learning basic scales and songs such as “Hot Cross Buns,” we teach the kids using music they love. Within just a few lessons, they will be able to play a favorite song. This song-based approach to music lessons is highly motivating. Kids are more likely to practice and stick with an instrument if they truly enjoy what they are playing.
Our instructors can teach using virtually any genre of music, including rock, pop, country, blues, R&B, bluegrass, jazz, classical and much more. In addition, we also can teach virtually any instrument. While we specialize in all types of guitars, piano & keyboards, drums and vocal lessons, we are happy to provide instructions on everything from a clarinet to a ukulele. In addition, our lessons are highly flexible. We can split the 60-minute lesson in two halves. You can spend 30 minutes on piano and the rest of the lesson on saxophone or perhaps half of your lesson will be spent on guitar and the rest on vocal instructions.
The Rock Band Experience
But the tuition at our rock school for Ranch Santa Margarita students doesn’t just include weekly lessons; your monthly fees also include participation in live rock shows. Rancho Santa Margarita rock school students are organized into bands based upon experience and ability level.
The students create their own set lists, practice during weekly jam sessions and then perform at popular venues such as the House of Blues, the Coach House and Stillwater. The private lessons, the weekly jam/practice sessions and the rock shows all are included in your monthly tuition.
Some of our live shows include songs from a wide variety of artists (including original songs written by Los Rios Rock School students) and some shows include a special theme. For instance, we’ve organized a Led Zeppelin tribute show as well as a show that featured all of the songs off the Beatles’ legendary “Abbey Road” album.
Beyond The Show
We also offer some special extras for our Rancho Santa Margarita rock school students. Our songwriting and recording classes are an ideal option for budding songwriters or producers. We have two on-site recording studios and have helped our students produce their own original albums.
In addition, for our advanced Rancho Santa Margarita rock school students, we also offer an AP Music Theory class led by an instructor with a Ph.D. in music composition. During this class, students will focus on attaining the skills and information necessary to pass the AP Music Theory exam.
A State-Of-The-Art Facility
Our rock school for Rancho Santa Margarita students is stocked with the finest new and vintage instruments and equipment, and the kids can learn to use it all! This includes our professional-quality production equipment as well as top-of-the-line guitar amps, bass amps and instruments. For instance, we have five custom DW drum sets. These are the same drums used by the best in the business, such as Don Henley, Tico Torres, Neil Peart and more.
